When is Nissan phasing out 6 cylinder engines?
The big two finally caved in
Toyota/Lexus will be putting in a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo
Honda/Acura as well (VRM failure?)
Any insiders have a idea when Nissan will be moving into forced induction territory?

I believe if I'm not mistaken the next gen 370's and Infiniti's will be getting a 3.0tt or single turbo. I cant remember off the top of my head though. Do some digging it's there. The 3.5's do get pretty good gas mileage when compared to all other manufacturers. I still get about 6.9l/100 hwy.
I think that the 3.5 will be nissans bread and butter for a while longer, as the 3.0tt will be putting down about 400 which would be a touch too much for the fwd regular market. If not then expect to see a newly developed 2.5liter turbo as they already have that for some of their track cars which does extremely well.

I read an article about the redesigned 370Z and it said that Nissan is kicking around the idea of putting a 4 cylinder engine in it. I wonder it that would be the 4 cylinder that Nissan is building for Mercedes here in the U.S.?

Maybe? Wonder why they're doing that to a sports car since their bread and butter are compacts and mid-size sedan

Nissans Bread and Butter is the Altima and Sentra, without those sales Nissan would die a fairly quick death! They can afford to take some risk/changes with the Z and even the Max as they are much lower profit/volume cars. I have always said that this 8th gen Maxima will not have the 3.5 for long, if the upcoming Z gets a version of this new 3.0TT coming to the Q50/60 or some sort of TT 4cyl coming to the family the Max will see an iteration of it as well! If they get the TT 4 cyl down the road, it will end a long tradition of straight 6/V6 engines for both of Nissans "heritage" vehicles!

Nissans main sales are the altimas, versas, rogues, sentras, Nissan is using these cars as their gas mpg cars. This attracts the olderly and the fuel economy customers. The performance and sports luxury will be the v6 maxima and altima and murano and pathfinder. Nissan knows messing with their v6 productions will be a bad idea something they have been holding on for so long now. It would make since that they can and will drop a turbo 4 banger in a juke which is what they already have, Doing it to the 370z with this type of change its just a downgrade and a set back due to the weight on the 370z. The v6 3.0tt is not a bad idea its a good idea.
