LOL..great imagery! That is a total load of crap. First off, emissions regulations are far less strict in Japan than in the US, so if they can be modded to qualify here, they can be modded to qualify there. And another thing, the "Z" is not called the "Z". I don't care if it sounds better. It's the 350ZX, and it's NOT all new! It's just an update of the old ones. Granted I'd still cream myself if I had one, it's not some "extreme new concept". Someone needs to go down there and kick some sense into their thick skulls.

First - afaik it's the "350z" not the zx.

Second - how do you figure it's not "all new"? New body, new engine... what's left over?

The word "Z" is used by Nissan, Auto Mags, Dealerships...etc. Its a common name for the car...I am not saying this is true or anything, but I have heard plenty of times the "Z" this or the "Z" that on T.V. and IRL.

Yeah, I don't know about that article because both the Skyline and the Sivlia are very popular in Japan.

I wouldn't doubt history. Nissan did kill the 300ZX in North America way before they had a replacement. With sales of only 2200 a year for the Skyline, I could easily see it fading away.

The GT-R concept was at the Detroit show and it was being touted as the replacement for the Skyline. I thought it looked like ****. Reminded me of one of those homemade body kits that you would see in cheesy movies featuring 70's Corvettes.

The GTR was more popular worldwide than the 300Z and thats why the Z was discontinued.

the 300zx were about 40-50 thousand dollar sports car that were sitting at dealerships. everybody said that nissan shouldn't have scratched it of the enventory but how many of these people that were complaining were buying the 300zx??????
the same thing happened to supra, rx-7 , and last but not lease the 3000gt. all of these japanese super cars died in the period of about four model years. 350z is just a attempt to bring back the japanese super car but they will be very limited in production.

the other thing is the i35 not the american version of the skyline.
aren't i30's always called the up scale maxima. like camry to es300
so that means that the article would have some relevance to the maxima. i don't know i could be wrong though.

I can see all the points that were made, but now I'm a little confused...I didn't even research my post, I just went from memory, which is obviously a little rusty, but the 350z isn't really "new". It's a restyling of the old body, and the engine is the same format as our engines, but tuned and updated. I guess TECHNICALLY, it's "new", but I think if it's not an absolutely new creation, then it's not "new". Just babbling...

Yes. Even if they did die they'd probably come back after a few year hiatus...it's like Chevy killing off the Camaro, they know the damage it would do which is why it's just gonna go off for a while..
