Lost my key + key fob - 2003 Maxima

Hello everyone. I recently lost my key/keyfob at work and haven't been able to find them. Asked around with no luck, so I'm left with just two spare keys. I've been looking at Amazon for replacement key + key fob and saw these:

Amazon.com: 2 New Keyless Entry 4 Button Remote Car Key Fobs for Select Nissan w/FREE DIY Programming Guide: Automotive Amazon.com: 2 New Keyless Entry 4 Button Remote Car Key Fobs for Select Nissan w/FREE DIY Programming Guide: Automotive

Amazon.com : Nissan Transponder Ignition Chip Key Pathfinder Titan Xterra 350z Quest Frontier Murano Maxima : Vehicle Keyless Entry : Car Electronics Amazon.com : Nissan Transponder Ignition Chip Key Pathfinder Titan Xterra 350z Quest Frontier Murano Maxima : Vehicle Keyless Entry : Car Electronics

From what I understand, I'll have to program the fob and get the key cut from a dealership or locksmith. Is there anything else I should be aware of?

The keyfob seems to be correct for the 2003 Maxima. T 2003 Maximas uses and FCC ID of KBRASTU15 and that number is listed in the Amazon ad.

I can't say the same thing for the key, though. If you read the section on what vehicles use the key, the 2003 Maxima is not in that list. I looked on another website that sells keys and it agrees with the Amazon description.

OK thank you for the response. I tried looking for other keys but I couldn't find one that would be compatible with my Maxima. I Saw two keys but they had a lot of bad reviews. Also, if I get the new key cut and programmed from the dealership or locksmith, will it make my old keys unusable?

Edit: Found this FOB on Amazon and it's a little cheaper. It says it fits with my Maxima so I'm probably getting this FOB

That newer link also lists the correct FCC ID number (KBRASTU15), so it should be OK.

When you get a new key programmed to the car, the programming process starts out by erasing all the keys that are programmed in. So you have to have all the old keys with you so that they can be programmed back in along with the new one.

Here are 2 links to blank keys on Amazon that are supposed to fit a 2003 Maxima:
Amazon.com : Transponder Key Blank Fits 2000 2001 2002 2003 Nissan Maxima : Car Electronics Amazon.com : Transponder Key Blank Fits 2000 2001 2002 2003 Nissan Maxima : Car Electronics

Amazon.com : New Uncut Transponder Ignition Key Blank for1999-2006 Nissan Altima Maxima Altima Pathfinder W/Chip 4d-60 : Car Electronics Amazon.com : New Uncut Transponder Ignition Key Blank for1999-2006 Nissan Altima Maxima Altima Pathfinder W/Chip 4d-60 : Car Electronics

The first one is generic, the second one has the Nissan logo for a dollar more.

Alright thanks for your help. If I don't find my keys after this week, in gonna have to order the fob and keys. As for the 2nd key link you posted, I want that one but the reviews don't look too good. Should I take a chance? Would prefer my keys to have the Nissan logo

Edit: forgot about eBay, they have this

Reviews on Amazon.com can mean many things. It could mean the seller is slow to send you the order, which isn't too bad. It could also mean they send the wrong part and that is a pain in the behind.

But I read the reviews and the seller seems to have bad keys that cannot be programmed to the car. The last several reviews (that go back to Oct 2014) are about bad keys.

Maybe you should skip this guy.

Here is another amazon link for a key with the Nissan logo.

Here is a link for a pair of keys, which, of course costs more.

Got the fobs, programmed them under 5 minutes. Next day I get a message from work saying they found my keys. I got the transponder key the next day but now I have to return it since I don't need it anymore

That's good, even if it it took a while. If you only have one key, why don't you get the new one cut and programmed anyway. That way you will have a spare.
