Video of the Max versus a Yellow Type R...

I had a bad day at the strip, and on the first run felt that wonderful clutch slippage. Now I have to replace a clutch, oh well, I did manage to beat my best time and a Type R with an AEM intake anyway.

Any ideas for a decent clutch.

Not that I've tried it, but I have seen recommendations on here for an ACT pressure plate (30-40% more clamping force) and a NA 300Z clutch disc (strongest center hub of any 240mm disc). Total's supposed to be around $275 for both pieces.

actually Warren, the guy said he had headers on the type r too. He was very impressed with the maxima times, as well as the integra guys that he was with. I just wish we all had a better day than we did, I think we can blame it on bad track prep.

nice run, you may have thought you had a bad run but at least you took out a Type R in the process.

*cough cough* I chirp third on a stock clutch *cough cough*

Nice vid... you really ripped that ITR a new one on the launch it looked like. What did he end up running.

Check out the post of my day at the track yesterday... JRSC GSR race description there...

What did you run... it looks like a 14.357 or .557 or. 657 or .857... I'm going to go with option C, and guess .657, because he said he improved his best time but was still disappointed.

BTW Veetec I believe your stock time, with a sick 60' like you had I believe I coulda been right there with ya in the low 14.7s.

"skeptical of his sig time" ummm, slipping clutch, does that ring a bell?? Besides, wasn't a good day at the track for anyone.

Anyway, what did you run last time at the track with a 100 shot??

I ran a 14.8 to his 14.9

My first run that day had a m.p.h. that was close to 94, and that was with major clutch slippage. It only got worse as the day went on.

When I get the clutch done I am gonna dyno the car to again and go back to the strip. When the car was dynoed I thought the clutch was slipping on the dyno somewhat, and now the strip has confirmed the problem.

Balanced Performance has recommended going with the Jim Wolf set up, any feedback there? I was going to have it shipped today so I can get it on the car A.S.A.P.

After running 14.704 with major slippage, I am confident that the Max will be down a few tenths with a new clutch.

Nice run. Atleast the Y-pipe gave you some more topend. I've got a great VHS video of me running a yellow ITR last summer at KCIR. I was on my super heavy 17s, y-pipe, muffler, and intake. The ITR had Comptech header and AEM intake. We both had pretty pathetic launches in the upper 2.3 range. By the beginning of 2nd gear, I was slowly pulling away. I continued to walk him thru 3rd, but by the far end he was closing in. I ran a 15.0@93mph to his 15.3@94mph. The best part is you can hear the local riceboys in the crowd. You hear "oh, whoppie, a overweight Maxima vs a 210hp ITR". Right after the hard chirp into 2nd, you hear, "WTF, that Max only as 190hp and he's pulling on Adam!!!".

I wouldn't stand a chance against that ITR now. He's done a complete $3500 JUN makeover plus a full suspension. It's a very sweet ride because it still looks bonestock except for some lightweight 16s. I believe his current best on drags is a 13.5@102mph.

skeptical meaning i think he ran a faster time than his stock time meaning the time in his sig? perhaps?

Yeah I know. But it is my first 5 speed, and I was nt really sure how to race neccesarily my first few times out. I think though now that I have some better understanding once the roads are clearer I can give it another shot.
