Access Denied in Windows 8.1 for stringout

I'm trying to export a function with stringout. Unfortunately, Maxima saves to the program directory in windows and I get Access Denied. Removing the readonly flag doesn't help. How do I make this work, or change the save directory to a non-denied section?

cluttering the program directory

That works, but I really hate to clutter up the program directory with saved functions. Is there any way to point Maxima somewhere else? I see the Maxima file itself is saved more sensibly, to C:\MaximaData. I see in config that you can change some parameters with lisp, but I don't know lisp or if that's a possible change.

I found out how to change the save directory but it only lasts for one session. Is there an autostart routine I can edit somewhere?
