I'm going to get a y-pipe within the next two months and I wanted some opinions? How much is each, pros and cons of each, and any experience with either y-pipe. Also, how much would it cost to get installed?

Y-pipes

I have a Cattman Jet-Hot coated y-pipe on my 96 Maxima and I like it very much. I have not had any problems with my Maxima after I put on the y-pipe. The ceramic coated pipes that Cattman is putting out now would be the way to go as I have heard that some people have had problems with Stillens unit. Cattman has a good reputation about him in that he will try to fix a problem to the best of his ability if there is something wrogn with his product. Good man and good products. I think that Stillen's y-pipe might be less than Cattmans but their service is really the pits from what some people say. Don't take my word for it keep asking around. I have never had any problems with Stillens products (FSTB, RSB, Greddy cat-back) so I have only good things to say about them. Just my .02

CATTMAN, CATTMAN

I had a Stillen first, and it cost about 50 less I think. I had problems fitting it correctly, then when it did fit I had buzzing in the exhaust. As soon as I bought the cattman, the buzzing went away, and it fit perfectly into place. The cattman pipe seems like it gives better HP to, but it could just be me tired of Stillen. Their service is the pits! I have a Stillen fstb and B-pipe. I got rid of thier y-pipe and muffler. Sour grapes! Anyway...I would suggest any cattman product over any Stillen product

Very happy with my Stillen Y-pipe..

I stayed away from Cattman because there have been lots of problems with his Y-pipes. I keep hearing about the problems have been solved and then you read about coatings coming off, the y-pipe hitting sub-frames, ill fitment, etc.
The Stillen Y-pipe might be built out of lower quality materials, but it lasts. Mine has been flawless for about a year now. No rust even though our winters are full of salty slush.

I also had a Stillen and it was great no problems

what so ever, I have also heard many problems by the Cattman, but from my experience the Stillen works just fine.

Stillen Y

I too have the Stillen Y on my 2K and have had absolutely no problems. No buzzing sound either. I have the Federal Emissions and do not need the pre-cat. There is no buzzing either that some talk about.

On the stillen y-pipe

I just ordered mine about 2 1/2 weeks ago through got rice? It was sent to me and it didn't fit. I think there is a problem with a batch of stillen y-pipes not joining together properly. So be forewarned that neither product is perfect. Which one is better is also debateble.

Cattman SS Y-pipe

I've had mine for close to a year now and I absolutely love it. No fitment problem, no weird noises -- nothing. Took some time for me to install it, but other than that, it's the best ~$400 I've spent so far.

when i got my stillen ypipe after Maxima Day, there was a fitment problem with the two separate pipes.

i used my dremel to sand down the inside so that the two pipes would interlock better.

that was the only problem for the stillen pipe.

two days later, i installed a cattman ypipe on another maxima, but the cattman's pipe was made so sloppily, the o2 sensor would hit parts of the undercarriage and it was a complete pain in the *** trying to get it to attach to the catalyst converter due to the welds on the flange-connection part.

even with the stillen problem, i got the stillen pipe in under three hours.

the cattman pipe took over 4 hours to install due to the fact we had to bang out parts of my friend's car cuz the o2 sensor wouldn't fit, and we had to remove parts of the ypipe-holder near the catalyst converter.

imho. go with the stillen ypipe.

That is because you need headers, especially for the nitrous.

I did have the WSP Y pipe, that's why I got a replacement (bad flex section). I ended up getting the Cattman, and I'm very, very happy.

As for headers. Don and Emax replaced their headers, and they got crap for gains. Maybe you should read around before you suggest something to another person. I think everyone agrees that the Y-pipe is one of the best bank for the buck performance mods for the maxima (and it's much easier to install then headers)

Cattman Jet-Hot Y-pipe.

No buzzing or bees-in-the-can noises...No 02sensor, fitment problems either. Works perfectly.
We'll see how it handles the Northeast winter

Hmmm

I'd have to say Stillen... You'd have a better chance of returning it if something is wrong. So many ppl in the DC .org have had problems with the Cattman's longevity, customer service and fitment. Hopefully the New version of the Cattman will last long(fitment is still an issue).
