Possible fix for Cruise Control probs...

Hi,

I just bought (3 days ago) a '93 Max SE while home from college and discovered the cruise control didn't work (horrid on a 330 mile trip). My first reaction was to check on here for any similar probs....I noticed a bunch of people were having probs....especially intermitten ones. I found out what the prob on mine was. If you turn on the cruise system and notice that it won't set, but the system light does come on...you might have the problem I did. The problem lies in the clutch switch...behind your clutch there is a switch (also one on your brake pedal) which tells the cruise to cut fuel if either pedal is depressed. This is so your engine doesn't race up to redline when you take the load off the engine by pushing in the clutch. I put my foot BEHIND the clutch pedal and pulled it up towards me really really hard and what do you know?? the cruise set light came on. I did this on the way to work so when I get home I'll probably pull the switch out and see if it looks defective. If this is your problem don't remove the switch and try to use cruise control... you could totally lose control of your car. If this doesn't fix your prob...try doing the same for the brake pedal.... I hope this helps some of you.
