I have a 99 SE super-dirt-magnet-black, and was looking to get the windows tinted. My black 97 had black tint, which looked nice, but I am starting to get sick of seeing that black tint on almost every car out there. My friend just put the metallic tint on his blue imprezza 2.5RS and it looks pretty sharp. Anyone got pics of a max with this metallic tint?? how much does it cost?

 

which mettalic? are you talking about the one that looks like a mirror?

 

Yeah sorry about the mix-up. I know the really good black tints have metal in them, but I am looking for the tint that actually looks like a mirror.

i have blue metalic on my blue 96

 

I have titanium tint on my wifes car. It's not really mirrored, but it seems to pull some of the color from the car into the windows... IMO

 

I have silver paint on my 88 and I got the mirror tint. It really looks good and it blends with the paint.At certain angles it almost all looks the same color as the paint.

 

Sounds like the mirror tint would look pretty good. I am however going to keep it legal at 35%. that last thing I need is getting pulled over while I'm driving clients around. anyone know how much it should cost? I am in northern NY and in the Boston area frequently any good shops?

 

i NY they can't pull you over just for that..

they have to have a reason to pull you over first (speeding , running a stop )

THEN they can give you a ticket for tint...
(this is dirrectly from a law officer, my business does a lot with police departments in my area, and at least the peeps i met are always willing to tell you how it is)

i always roll my front windows down all the way when i get pulled over... never gotten a ticket..

35% in front 20% in back and rear
and i would like 20% in front.. (I notice the difference and it does not match as much as i would like it to in the back .. but it looks GREAT...)

anyone else - any recommendations on a good brand of metallic tint? I want something silver or blue.

 

Madico makes the bronze metallic tint on my car. Don't pay more than $180 for ForumlaOne.

 

so is METALLIC tint legal? its MIRROR tint that attracts the cops right? I get mixed up between the two...

 

having ANY tint is illegal.. period.. i quote a police officer here.. and also the guy that tinted my car said so ( i know, hearsay, blah blah ) but this guy has been doing this for 14 years, in fact.. he makes his money off doing businesses window tinting in the area, cars are his "while not doing buildings" job... anyway.. i got tint, i love it.

but like i said before, it's one of those second offenses

and tolerated... but "ticketable" if they want to be a$$h0Léz

i would not worry about it, but don't forget, any type of situation where visibility was a factor, you will lose in court because of tint..

and, if they ticket you.. although most times you can get away with just saying that you are going to remove it, but .. they can also make you prove that you will or have.


my 2 cents... get it.. i commute alot and can't picture my car without it, both practically and aesthetically

 

Well.. I had an incident with a Ford Explorer.. The guy in the Ford was driving on an onramp onto the highway and I was driving on the right lane (him on my right side). The onramp was ending very quickly so the guy decided to swerve right into the side of my max.. in which I lost control and spun around and hit the middle guard rail and spun around once more. Then I manage to get out and look for the guy in the Ford Explorer and he was no where to be found. =(
