SCC challenges the 2k2 max in So Cal?

sorry if someone already posted this link but...

http://www.altimas.net/forum/showthr...5&pagenumber=1

i don't remember seeing a thread where this was mentioned--is there anyone in So Cal that wants to let SCC have it?
if not, how much is a plane ticket? i'm sure if SCC will change the times and article on the max and alty we could round up enough $$ to send someone to So Cal--just a thought...

i'll take part in sponsoring ya' if we can get a few others to pitch in, the more people that do the cheaper it would be for everyone and it would also be a nice slap in the face for SCC

Is the event this Friday in San Antonio, TX sponsored by the same SCC? If so, me and my heavy 2k2 auto will be there (14.6 first time at the track last week). That would make for a fun evening.

guys, you have it all wrong... we need to find a member on the left coast who has a 2k2 6spd and get that person to practice a little so they can run 14.3s - then that person goes to SCC - that way we have two cars proving they can do it, one in person.

Either they didn't take the e-brake down or the track ran up the hill. Dumb microsoft, only his wife knows why he called that company Micro Soft.

That is the first time I read the article. Holy **** are these guys f@ckin idiots or what?!? I realize I have the intake, but I have ALOT of crap in my car (RSB, BIG @ss speaker box, two amps w/ custom boards, receiver hitch, etc.) and all of my runs excluding the first, were 14.8 or better. Has anyone emailed these guys writing this BS? Whatever!!

The SCC editor has made the challenge formal. Here is his post from the Altimas.net thread:
In liew of re-reading this entire post, I'll make the offer more official. Anyone who wants a shot at running the elusive 14.3 and being recognized for it in SCC, should email me directly...joshj@mcmullenargus.com. Maybe we can run a news piece about this whole mess if somebody does the impossible. If not, we'll simply say what happened.

Head the email with "Maxima" in the subject field and I'll get back to you with details.

Perhaps those of you who read this post initially can pass the word around on other threads.

I'd love to see one of you guys show him what Nissans are capable of. We all know that the Max is capable of better than a 15.0 1/4-mile. Any takers?

Wow, does that sound tempting! My best first time at the track was 14.67. This week I am ditching the sub box and will run about 25 psi front and 40 psi rear. However, I would be surprised to get 14.3. But I will be there and will run, so we will see.

urm, you'd want to FLY here? and drive who's car?
drive here, and I or one of the other west coasters would be happy to open their homes for you. I know you could crash here. Besides, it'd be a nice vacation =)

I'd do it, but I dont have a 2k2 max

You can ask charlienewbiemax, he just got a 2k2 auto, but I dunno how fast it is, or if he ever ran it...

Anyone have the actual link? The one here isn't working.

Also, 14.3 for the 2k2 would need a GOOD driver... I'm sure most decent ones could run a 14.7 no problem, but find a good driver would be a little more difficult... where's JeffK or ST when you need 'em?

Guys, guys, guys, don't you know SCC doesn't correct ets and that the tracks in Cali aren't very fast due to altitude and heat? LA is in the desert you know. Not all 2k2s are going to run 14.3-14.6. Everyone is forgetting that these awesome 2k2 times are being run at cool/cold tracks in coastal citys (ie very close to sea level). If you have ever raced, you would know what temp and altitude does to a car.

Dood! it's friggin COLD in cali right now, it's like high 50's low 60's during the day and high 30's to 40's at night, and that's like in soCal where I live!! so rule heat out as a factor, now is the perfect time to go to the track...

I wouldn't say you need a GOOD driver to do 14.3 in the 2K2 5 Speed. DMBMaxima only just started driving manuals when he did 14.3 in his Max. He probably had the car less than a month.

I think I am boycotting SCC . I read through the article last night. Bastards, they couldn't drive their way out of a paper bag.

They probably had the actual owners drive the cars, some shlep that launches at 5k rpm... ha ha.

Did you guys see the article about the 10 best cars? That tiberon.... ha ha 0-60 in 3.3 hehe
