I have a 98 maxima se. Four days age, my light came on and I reset the ECM. Tonight it came on again and the flashing codes was 7 long blinks, then 5 fast blinks, then 3 long blinks then 9 fast blinks. Can anyone help me here on the problem. I try the troubleshooting on the service manual and it said the evap- small leak. HELP!!!

 

Make sure your gas cap is on tight.

 

I did that before and it went on. So this second time, I just reset it and that is where it's at now. I don't think it's the gas cap. I tighten that like a million turns. What could that code mean and what can evap- small leak means? thanks.

 

I have a 98 GXE and about a month ago I got [P0440] - Evap Small Leak & [P1448] - Vent Control Valve. Apparently the vent control valve had seized. Since the car was under 36k miles it was replaced for free under warranty. So if your car is still under warranty go to a nissan dealership, have them retrieve the codes from the ECU with the diagnostic tool to verify the codes. By the Way, those errors should not effect the performance of the car, but the check engine light is annoying.

 

The codes was the 7 long blinks, 5 short, 3 long and 9 short blinks tell you. I thought it would be 0705 or 0309, but i have no idea. Does 0705 mean evap-small leak. the codes are the difficult part of it. Can someone please help with these codes. thank you.
