2013 Maxima Delayed Acceleration !

So recently as ive been driving, i noticed when i am taking off either from a stop sign, stop light, etc, my car sometimes does not respond immediately to me pressing the gas pedal. it seems as if it takes a second then it realizes what im trying to do and it just takes off and now im flying down the road. if it doesnt do this exact thing, sometimes from a stop, it may jerk then fly into gear. Recently changed air filter and it drove better for about a day but seems to be back to the same thing. any suggestions on what my issues could be? i also have no lights on my dash. i use premium gas as well.

Since the air filter change didn't help try changing the fuel filter next and cleaning what you can (cheapest troubleshooting first). If that doesn't work you'll need to keep going down the line of things to check.
  • Failing or dirty mass airflow sensor
  • Clogged catalytic converter
  • Clogged air filter
  • Clogged fuel filter
  • Dirty throttle body
  • Failing oxygen sensor
  • Faulty ignition coils or spark plugs
  • Clogged engine oil filter
  • Failing throttle position sensor
  • Dirty fuel injectors
  • Worn down valve seals or piston rings
  • Blown head gasket
  • Transmission issue
  • Fuel pump malfunction

Sadly no, the only thing that has made it way better tho is changing the transmission fluid. I was told i have a lot of built up debris my transmission and thats what causes the late acceleration. Its so funny that you asked because i have been debating getting rid of the car for this EXACT reason. The issue happens with me everyone once in awhile so its not too bad but it can be definitely dangerous. i would definitely think about a fluid change, it may help you out.

Ok, thanks for that. I had a mechanic change the valve body since the error code showed the step motor sensor was bad, and it’s been fine for about a week. Now it made it half way up my driveway before it stopped responding. Did you flush the transmission fluid or just add more?

Well I’ll get the fluid flushed and hope that lasts long enough to trade in to a dealer 😂

hey man i also forgot to mention, i did talk to ny mechanic recently and he said the valvoline fluid isnt the best for the car. I dont know what fluid you use but He recommended me to try the fluid from nissan. Its NS-2 or something similar to it. Its pretty expensive tho. This will probably be the last thing i try before i completely give up on it.

So it seems like it’s only an issue after several hours of consistent driving (I drive 1500-2000 miles a month for work). I just turned it up and drove it to the store and it was like nothing. I’m just going to sell it to car max
