New best time at the TRACK TONIGHT!

New best time at the TRACK TONIGHT!
I guess I am the 2nd fastest 5th gen on the board!

Here are my time slips and picture of the car with the time.

http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/russmaxmaniac/cartime.jpg

http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/russmaxmaniac/timeslip.jpg

Left 14.8310 at 94.59 mph with 2.3742 60ft and .6042 reaction
Right 14.8876 at 93.96 mph and 2.3311 60ft, .6346 reaction

My clutch started acting bad...so some runs were 15.1s and one 20! It slipped bad on that run.

No adjustments were done to the car, still ran 34-36 psi front and 32 rear....!

Hey pretty good times there Russ and look's like you won both races. What kind of cars did you race against and who got the 17sec 1/4 mile a Geo Metro.

Auto 626 had the 17 sec time slip. The other car I really don't recall.

Good lord that time is slow; it must have been a 626 4cyl. Either way nice kills.

Good job, Russ. I don't know why you're gonna bother with a smaller car like a VW 1.8T when your stock Maxima is running what many chipped VWs are running.

Yikes! A 14.83 with a 2.37 60 ft?

I would have thought the mph would have been higher than 94.5 to achieve that ET with that 60 ft. No way my car would come close to that. With nearly a 2.4 second 60 ft, Id have been lucky to run a 14.8 WITH the CAI and Y-pipe on a coldest day of the year.

What were the 1/8th mile numbers?

Getting rid of Nissan period...the car is obviously one quick one, but its time to move away from Nissan for some turbo power.

That's a shame. I don't know how you afford to take all these hits in depreciation when you're trading cars yearly. My buddy does the same thing and I swear he's currently driving around in $19000 99 Civic hatchback because he's been upside down so many times Whatever makes you happy buddy.

nice run russmaxmaniac. i remember running 14.6 as my best time with only a cone filter. if you keep practicing you probably will get low 14s. lower those tire pressures! as for getting a jetta; those cars (especially the 1.8T) are no slouches. a teammate of mine has a '01 automatic 1.8T with only a chip and freeflow exhaust. it ran a best time of 13.9 (stock tires, full interior) the day i saw him run. he usually averages in the 14.2-14.3 range. good luck with the VW if you happen to go that way! my goal for the maxima is to find all motor 13's somehow. i still can't believe he got such quick times with so few mods on an automatic! blown away is more like it.

Golf is made in Mexico as well....Jetta as well.

And actually people have less complaints from the Jettas than the Golfs.

The bug and jetta I know for sure are made in Mexico. When did they start building GTI VR6 in Mexico? Was it when they switched over to mkI4?

Actually incorrect..I just looked up the info..

All GOLF/GTI's are made in Brazil now, the only car made in Germany is the Jetta Wagon. The regular 4 door Jetta is made in Mexico.

Quality between both cars now, no differences. Same parts, just different assembly plants and people. They said no one can notice a difference these days.

You can't just say they were made in Germany, to figure out the accurate way, look at the vin #. I just got this info from VW vortex. They started making the MKIV in Brazil.

well the parts are the same but i would take the German made over the brazil made,
look at all the cars coming from mexico, like the new sentra, etc, the quality control and peole who work there
in germaqny the same person is makin probalby couple times as much an hour, so probably he is doing a better jobs
and yes, jettas are not reliable, this comes from a VW mechanic who works on them
again, he said if u gonna get a vw, get the German made

I don't understand how a VW assembled in South America would be any worse than a German assembled version. All the plants do is assemble the car. They don't engineer the parts nor build the parts. The motors are shipped in assembled, transmissions are assembled, wiring harnesses loomed together, etc. I've watched an assembly line work and it's brainless work. The way things fit together isn't the workers problem, it's the engineer's problem. I'd bet nearly all the parts for the South America VW are sourced from Germany.

Well it seems that they must have switched production over during that year of 2001. So some were made there and some weren't. But 2002s I bet are all made in Brazil.

Well you can't say that. Personally the new Sentra is better made than the Altima. Sit in both and you will see what I mean. And there was a big discussion on vwvortex.com about this. Everyone noticed more problems with German made VW's than Mexico made ones. Mostly equipment failures. Build quality, no differences.
