The way things fit together isn't the workers problem, it's the engineer's problem. I'd bet nearly all the parts for the South America VW are sourced from Germany.
They are. That was part of the discussion they had. All the parts are shipped from Germany to the warehouse to build the cars. All they do is assemble them in Mexico.

MPH means nothing...it's who gets there first!

Yea, compared to AWD vs FWD. If its a roll the 1.8t will take a WRX.... Less power loss to the wheels.

power is power though, hello SR20DET here i come!
Russ-
I won't have the WRX in May. If I do get one, it will be later on in the year. I was just saying the next time you see me after May, I'll probably be sporting the Scooby. I bought my wife a 98 Legacy GT wagon earlier this year and I got to flog it last week during our ice storm. AWD is a blast. I know the WRX isn't the best topend machine, but it does pretty good for what it's got. Simply adding a boost controller, filter panel, remove the intake resonators, and add a good 3" turbo on back exhaust will easily get you in the 13s. SCC did a test of 6 WRXs, one of which has the mods I listed. It ran a 13.6@100mph on heavy 17" Sparcos. Once you uncork the WRX and take control of the boost, it becomes quite a different machine. I really doubt a chipped VW could hang with a WRX up top. Most of the guys at Vortex and a 18Turbo are in the mid to high 14s with traps in the 93-95mph range.
As for that guy running 13.2@92mph in the WRX, he must have been bracket racing and hit the brakes. That trap speed is WAY too low for a 13.2. A 13.2 with a modded WRX should be closer to 101-103mph.
What are your planned mods?
Oh and I'll smack you if you start quoting flywheel power numbers like most of the those 1.8T guys do
I don't know why they do it. It's very misleading. I don't go around saying my car makes 220hp and 233ft/lbs of torque.

After that, the next time you see me I'll probably be sporting a Scooby-Doo WRX.
