Power steering squealing like a stuck pig?/??
This morning as I backed out of the garage, I had my wheels turned nearly full lock to avoid my wife's car and I heard this nasty squeal. Once the steering wheel got within 2" of lock, the belt/pulley/pump would squeal. After two minutes of driving, the noise was no more. When I came out to my car this evening after work, I had the same noise and then after driving, no noise.
What do you guys think. The fluid level is fine. Is my belt loose? Bad pump?

I recently got a squeek in my PS, but I'm not familiar with tightening belts. Are there any good links that you guys can direct me to?

Adjusting the powersteering belt is complicated. I suggest that you get a Chilton's manual. It is extremely helpful and cheap, $18. There is an adjustment screw and a securing bolt. The securing bolt is tucked up and out of sight on the pump. It's hard to explain and I doubt anyone has any kind of pic showing this bolt. This is why you need the manual.

i second dave on this one i am by no means mechanical but the chilton's book is the best, it explains everything fairly well from wiring diagrams to how to replace light bulbs or take your dash apart, definately worth the cash order one off of amazon or barnes and noble
