Need opinions on my dual tips being moved...

I am lookin at my car and the duals are even and all, but they just don't stick out like I like. I kinda like them to stick out noticeably past the bumper, it gives it more visibility and looks more aggressive. I just donno if it's really worth the trouble. (But then again its under warranty so I can tell 'em to do whatever the hell I want )

What do you guys think ? They'd look better stickin' out sommore?

Re: Need opinions on my dual tips being moved...

I say try to move them farther apart from each other. It will definitely make the stance from behind more aggressive.

As for the outward poke, keep it as it is. Looks pretty good already.

Once you're done with it send me your rims

Definatally cant move em out any farther This is far apart they will go w/o modifying the stock hole.

So, you gonna get these rims after all ?

I think they look great just as they are. Could you describe how you modded the exhaust system to get dual tailpipes? Or is it a kit or, and I'm not that familar with earlier models, did it come stock with duals?

Re: Re: Re: Need opinions on my dual tips being moved...

I honestly would like to see it spread further apart. But if it can't be helped then just keep it as it is.

I'm still torn on the rims but yours is #2 on the list right now, after the 5Z Copse... which is unfortunately pretty heavy

Just waiting on any possible tax refunds right now.

They look fine the way they are. You don't want them to stick out too much , or they will look odd. But, wider is better

they look fine as is....please don't extend them past the bumper, it make it look bad and kinda ricy!! I see a Neon at my school everyday the DTM tips stick out about 10 inches from the bumper...its a damn travesty!!

Thanks bro.

I would like to personally congratulate you and compliment you on having the second fastest Maxima ever made, the '95 5spd max. Quick as lightning (Not a FORD lightning of course ), the ultimate sleeper! (stock), and able to open up a can of whoop-@ss on 88% of the cars on the road!

Soundmike, I almost forgot, that 4-tipped dual looks AWESOME! Can you please photoshop me sommore of them? Possibly with a little smaller tips ? now THAT is an Idea that is possible!! All I gotta do is cut, weld and weld the new tips..

What do you guys think about the 4tips ?

What's the fastest Maxima (stock)?

I say leave the tips the way they are. Looks real sharp.

Nope, you are a talented young man and you know what you need to do

Greg, the fastest max stock is obviously the 2k2. But, before that it was the '95 GXE 5spd. 0-60 in 6.6 | 15.1 1/4th. Now, some people on these boards could surely get 0-60 in 6.4 or 6.5, becuase we all know the pro's arent really "pros" at all.

But did you see soundmikes photoshop of the quad duals ? Do you guys think that would look tighter? I think it looks pretty bad@ss, although if done wrong could be overkill

I've been humbled kind sir.

I think quads look really nice. I saw an I4 2k Accord with Quad tips around here... tho it's funny (I4? Quads?) it really looks tight.

The way it was done was pretty close to yours in fact, 2 mufflers with 2 tips each. Spread apart just a bit further and was extended just the same as your current set-up.

Man, if i only knew how (to do and much) to do quads i'd do it. I envy even the way the Alt looks with their dual tips apart from each other. (Hmm... does it even affect performance btw?)

(It could have been the V6 but i saw the guy make movements that look like he was playing with the shifter so i may be wrong about the I4 thing.)

I didn't notice this the first time around.

What's with everyone kissing me nowadays? LOL! Scary i tell you, scary.

Well if you cut your stock bumper... wouldn't that give you a reason to get a body kit anyway? hehehe... i'm sooooo bad.

Yep, the rims do look nice on my car. How heavy was that thing again? If anything i'll probably keep it 17's coz i can't afford new tires just yet and i really don't want to slow down.

No problem man, ...

About the rims, If you got 17x8 you wouldn't be able to use ya stock tires cause those are made for 17x7. And DONT get 17x7 becuase that looks too whimpy IHMO.

The wheels will be lighter than stock, in any trim you get. The 17x7 are 19.9lbs. each, and the x8's are 20.1lbs. each. Significantly lighter than stock, and gets a "good" performance rating on Cheston's little scale.

Don't worry about the tires tho becuase I can get you hooked up with my Sport tires for damn cheep.. so you could sell your current setup, make alot of $$$ (2k2 wheels), and could probubly break even goin with the aftermarket setup!

20.1 ain't too bad. But i was leaning more towards... oh i dunno, 12?

Btw, who's Cheston?

Also, you're selling your tires? I'll definitely be selling my rim/tire once i get a new set... in fact i've also looked at trading them in with Discount Tire, they were willing to look into the deal so i might take them up on it.

they do look kind of plain... remind me a lot of the stock TL setup for some reason

I've seen a lot of dual exhaust people put some nice mufflers on their cars, kind of like.. Apexi sport mufflers, just 2 of them.. looks really aggressive,
in your case, you can only see the tips, i'd really like to see the whole muffler with the tip, something in bright silver finish, maybe polished... just an opinion looks cool now, but can be better

I hear ya on the TL tips...but in person and up close you would see that mine are chrome and they are much bigger than the puny TL dull tips.

Also, there is NO room for a second muffler, barely enough for that pipe. That is what I want though, the straight piped look. I personally don't like the dual muffler look at all, I like the clean straight piped look like on the muscle cars, and that's what I went for. And it worked.
