Got sand in the engine

I recently found out that I got sand in my engine. I was doing a oil change early this week and the funnel I used to pour the oil into the engine contain dirt on it. Would this damage my engine? Would the filter work on cleaning out the dirt? Should I do another oil change? Please advise.

Thanks

Depending how much dirt/sand was on the funnel... at least change the oil/filter... maybe even consider an engine flush.

If it was just a 'little' dirt on the funnel, it probably won't cause a lot of harm hopefully... Just makes sure you don't make this mistake again.

If I inadvertently got dirt or sand in my car by way of an oil change I would change the oil/filter again in a hurry just to be safe. $20 bucks is worth the piece of mind...
