Iridium spark plugs?

I was at the dealership picking up a part (ring gear for the Quaife) and the guy asked if I'd tried the new iridium spark plugs. I've never heard of them. Anyone here know about them? He said they have a thinnger electrode than the platinums and deliver a better spark.

Denso Iridiums and NGK Iridiums. The NGK's supposedly add like 6hp to a modded engine with ignition upgrades already present. Some people swear by them, others (don't want to mention DA-MAX's name) say it's all crap. Depends on your car and how crappy your current spark plugs are. Haven't tried 'em personally.

Thanks

I might try them ... I'm closing in on 120k miles, time to replace the old ones.

Re: Thanks

I have them in my car, they don't really do anything for the car. On a high horsepower boosted engine, then they can provide more power, but on a regular street car, it's not noticable. I have the Densos, but the NGK Iridium's are cheaper.

Nope.

Denso Iridium's work great on Accord V6's.

But not on Maxima's according to most people here.

No... Besides, if something really goes wrong, just keep your old ones and slide them back in before you take it to the shop I have the NGK Iridiums in my pup.

Unless they can prove that it was the Spark Plugs that caused a failure, no. U have a 2002 max, i dun think you should touch the plugs, run at least 3k miles before u touch anything.

That is an idea but I allready would have to remove my intake, exhaust and maybe even my supension. To much fuss

Thats the theory anyways, in reality a dealer will just void your waranty if they damn well feel like it. The "consumer" would have to take legal action to get there waranty back, unfortunatly the lawyer fee's would likely cost much more then the repair work covered by the waranty. BTW, I don't see why the amount of miles on my car would have any effect on upgrading a spark plug, howeverI do have 4K miles on my max.

Thanks for the input guys
