thought of my Maxima is making me drool

My new rims were delivered but I had to go to a banquet tonight. The web photos don't do an 18x8 justice, dang they look so sweet in person. Problem is I have to go to the office tomorrow. Then, I do not have 3/8" drive tools and all my sockets are metric 1/2" drive. So I have to buy an adapter because so is the torque wrench. All of this means I may get to mount my rims on Sunday if I'm lucky. But you better believe that even ice hockey comes before the rims!

Shoot there's 2 less inches of sidewall, I really hope parking and potholes don't cause a problem. These Sumitomo 235/40-ZR (WR by service bulletin) look pretty good for only $131. I'll let you fellas know how they ride once I get em on.

You know why I think you're right is I was looking at the 2003 SVT Cobra on the web. It's got 13" Brembo brakes, but only 17x9 rims and 275's. If 18's performed better they probably would have installed them. Maybe it works on Porsche etc. because they can get forged rims ie higher quality and price but comparatively less weight. But there's no turning back......I couldn't resist because the 18" TGF AX are on special at Tire Rack, $129, and the Sumitomos were $131--I came in at just over $1100 with 2-day shipping. It would have ran me about $500 to get the stock RE950 onto the car. For the extra $600 I get an upgrade plus another set of rims so I did it. AAAAARGH have to go into work now!! The new lug nuts are not metric but they included the socket...that's why I have to get the 1/2 to 3/8" adapter to be able to use my tools and torque wrench..

I couldn't resist so I missed most of the 2nd period and came back to Russia 4, Belarus 2. Will root for Belarus now and the USA tomorrow.

LEFT side is on! Looks sweet. At first I was afraid the bolt pattern was wrong but it wasn't. Dang I drove my coworker home today and she loaned me Fast and Furious. I'm keeping my eyes on the brakes--so I'm gonna wait and do the right side tomorrow. Plus I can look hard at the 215/55-16's compared to the 235's. It's not dramatic, but somewhat noticable. As the Pizza Hut ad said, the left side is where most of the succulence is going on. 18's look SWEET!!

Although he might not FEEL a difference, there definatally is a difference when it comes down to the fine #'s. If his white japanese rims are ultra light, then maybe that factors to why he isn't any slower...or maybe its becuase he is pushing more power than stock that the bigger rims actually benifit him and hold the power down better (less spinning).

The only way to prove it.. he needs to get some 15" alloys, run a few runs with them, then with the 18's.

Deezo, I know you know better. It's just the law of physics.. the bigger the rim, the more rotational mass, the harder the engine has to work.. just go to chestons site to find out.. that's why people consider 17's a good balance between speed and looks.

We're like Beauty and the Beast. If you have any doubts, listen to Celene sing "God Bless America." Je t'aime Québec, Danièle Savaugeau, Kelly Béchard, Kim St-Pierre, Maurice Richard ROCKET FOREVER (#9).

I like very much, Wayne Gretzky, Shayne Corson, SIMON GAGNÉ, Eric Lindros, Marc Recchi, Eric DesJardins, Jarome Iginla.

I AM AMERICAN AND.............hehe so proud of the Canadian women. But I love Cammi Granato (best women's ice hockey player and ambassador USA) forever.

Tomorrow, I have to root for Johnny LeClair and Jeremy Roenick. In my heart the CUP comes to Philly this year!! Vive la Québec. Guess I just love ice hockey beyond belief, beyond my new 18's.

C'est vrai mon frère...our nations are brothers, like the Ying and the Yang, Year of the Horse.

My friends hammered me as I rooted for the Canadian girls, and my heart was broken when I saw tears fill Cammi Granato's eyes.... the best team did win esp. w/8 straight penalties causing them to be constantly short-handed. Oops I forgot to mention Danielle Goyette.....if only real life were like a CD-rom where you can staff a team with all your favorite playas.

It's gonna be a good game tomorrow and may the best team win! But may we also have a parade for the Flyers down Broad Street this Spring...

why are you guys arguing with Craig Mack.. don't you know 90% of the time he doesn't know what the f#ck he is talking about?

we have already argued this over and over.. with the difference in weight and sizes you can never determine what is faster or not..

a maxima with 18 inch forged volks will be faster than a maxima with 15 inch steelies.. because steelies weigh a ton.. its just too much factors to figure out.. again.. why are ppl listening to craig?

Yo Sprint, it's true, it's all about weight. That's why I think Porsche and BMW can justify 18's, because forging will always be lighter and stronger than casting, that's elementary. But obviously my TGF rims will be 18" at a weight premium. Unless it's over $500, it's probably true that a 17 can outperform an 18 due to unsprung weight. Like I had mentioned earlier even the 2k3 SVT Cobra probably has cost considerations, so $500 (retail) per rim is out of the question, and they went with a 9" wide 17".

Anyway, back to the hockey theme, you guys are sponsoring the 2004 NCAA women's hockey tournament!!

Mr. Darren, I realize weight is a factor..a big one. I should have included that, as Frank stated. But, your gonna pay alot of $$ for that..for example Volk, Racing Hart, Oz..they are all very expensive rims..why ? becuase they are soo light.

For the average man's rims (enkei, konig, ect.) they provide a good blend off all.. but for those average rims 18's become lagsome.

Some people arent as rich as you are, and for the less rich who still have some performance in mind, 17's are usually the way to go.

Doesn't sound bad, mine were about $270 less shipped but I don't know how much the TGF rims weigh. I thought the shipping label said 58 lbs for 2 rims with tires mounted on them. I think 235/40-18 is the right size. They look nice especially on the front. When I matched them up they seemed a tad larger in diameter than the 215/55-16. Just be careful with the hub tool if there is one I scratched my brand-new rim taking the center cap off.

haha for $1395 you can't get a ticket for the US vs. Canada game, they're going for $1500 a piece they say......

Sprint I agree with you that Craig has very little relevant information to add. However, for your wheels/tires to weigh 25lbs your wheels would have to be ~10 lbs. I believe even SSR Integrals are a hefty 14 lbs or so, and most 18" tires weigh in somewhere in the neighborhood of 15+ lbs. My NT03's are 20lbs which is good enough fo me.
Not looking to contradict; just clarify.

If Konig are knock-offs then Katana, enkei, tuner, and all those other brands are knock-offs too huh ? So "who" are they knocking off?

if you didn't know Konig are knockoffs then you need to do some research.. Konig has been knocking off Japenese rims such as 5Zigen for years.. oh the tantrums? they were a knock off to my GT8's but konig made them with 7 spokes instead of 8.. all of konig rims are knock offs.. do a search .. you will find out the same information aslo..

So, Sprint, if our rims weigh the same and all, but mine are an inch smaller, that means something. Weight is a biggie, but size is as well.

If you really care that much about weight why did you tack on an extra 30 lbs in the back Weight does make a difference, but when you have enough mods to make up for it the extra weight doesn't matter :P

If your referring to my duals then lets see..try..about an extra 5 pounds. If that.

I was referring to size this time, not weight. He is **** about the weight, but hasn't addressed the fact that our rims weigh the same but mine are an inch smaller.

It's just not the equivalent of a 215/55-16 as far as diameter goes, 235/45-17 and 235/40-18 seem to be the recommended tires for plus 1 and plus 2. The overall diameter is 25.3" on the 16", 25.3 on the 17", and 25.4 on the 18". If you go 225/40-18 your tire will be .3" smaller in diameter than stock which will add up to speedo error. Not sure why they would recommend that size unless they are overstocked or something. My 235/40-18 on 18x8 seem to have no problems...I actually notice no difference in ride at all, but I've only driven about 10 miles so far.
