Another max with power loss!!! HELP!

Hey guys, I have recently posted about my car seeming like it has lost power. My engine has 45k on it, the car has 104k(Long story). I have new NGK plats on my car. I can tell my car is running funny because I can hang in first gear up to like 20mph and floor it, and the car won't instantly jump and take off. It's almost like it bogs. But running that high in the rpm band when flooring it, it should instantly take off? I dont think the clutch is bad because I have put it in 5th gear at 35mph and floored it and the rpms didnt jump. Is that enough proof to not having a bad clutch? Would a bad fuel filter cause this? Or a bad cat? I run 93oct and always use fuel injector cleaner with every oil change. Thanks for the input.

I guess take it to the dealer or something... However, if the problem is you can't accelerate from 35mph in 5th gear, then there's NO problem. 5th gear just isn't for going 35 in a Max.

As for a bad clutch, I believe it would either be making strange noises, or when you step on the gas, the rpms go up but you cannot accelerate (in any gear).

The reason for putting the car in 5th gear at 35mph and then flooring it was to see if my rpms would jump. That is one way to tell if you have a slipping clutch. But it did fine, the sat there, but the rpms rose, slowly but surely!

I bought and put in a new fuel filter today. I got it at an autozone. Should I only run an oem filter?? How many miles do they last. On this box it says to replace every 10k. I told the guy I thought that was awfully low, and he said it is normal to replace the fuel filter every 10k. Hopefully tomorrow I will get my cat checked.

another way to check your clutch is to get the car to 80mph in 5th gear and watch your RPMs, they should be around 3200
