HID question

I have a 2k2 SE. I remember reading something in the past but I could not find it with the search. What does it mean when I turn on the HID's and they flash orange for a split second before they charge up. thanks for any help.

HID capsules require a start-up voltage of approxiamately 15,000-20,000VDC (realize that with HIDs you are arcing current across a gaseous medium - not a filament like in a halogen bulb). This is why they flicker because there is a small lapse in the time it takes the ballasts to bring the gas inside to temperature. After the initial startup, the steady state operating voltage is about 7000-9000VDC.

Don't sweat it...it's normal.
