yes, altezzas are illegal. Well, most of them are. They dont have red reflectors visible from the side of the car.

 

it all depends on the type of Altezza's they are...i think the Maxima Altezza's are illegal because they don't reflect red to the sides of the taillights...they might say "DOT approved" but that doesn't mean anything...because the Department of Transportation does not approved aftermarket products, they only provide a set of standards and it's the manufacturers responsibility to follow them...

 

exactly...ours are illegal because we have no side reflectors...for accords they have side reflectors on the bumper so their altezza are not illegal unless they got the clear side reflector...

 

I thought Honda owners loved those things???

 

most cops don't know about the lights not being visible on the side. they see altezza lights and just write a ticket for illegal taillights b/c they are not oem. they need to write tickets and most people will just send in the money to the courts. 90% of the tickets will be written for the wrong offense. you have a really good chance winning in court if you prove the lights have the correct colors and the brakes are red and can be seen from 300 ft. away.
