Wheel HP of the HLSD vs. non-HLSD

Does anyone know if the Helical LSD puts down less or more power on the dyno? I know in reality the HLSD puts the power down better/more evenly, but does it actually put down more?

I don't know the ins and outs or a HLSD (though I'd like to, hint hint), but as long as there is no extra friction resisting the motor, or any other mechanical loss (extra mass to move) there should be no noticeable power loss.

This is just a guess. But I think it would put down less.

Why do you guess less? SCC tested the so-calles 180hp Sentra SER spec V and the best they got out of 6 cars was like 144hp. That's almost 40hp lost in the drivetrain!????? Did it just burn up in the LSD or what? Do you have a reason you believe less? I am very curious...

Well it just seems that non lsd trans get more out of the line. My VE cannot get rubber for sh it. But the VQ's and the VG's have no problem screaching the tires. But I always screm back on the top end.

So you think that is an issue with hp? I would have thought it was more of a traction issue.

He simply doesn't understand one simple and well-known fact:
VG's launch HARD!

VQ's squeal easily because of their power and lighter weight.

The actually say it's 175hp. Taking that into consideration, that's around an %18 drivetrain loss. That's not entirely unreasonable. The 6-speed Maxima has a %19 drivetrain loss!!

I auto-x the first one here for the dealership in Greenwood at the Indy Auto show for demonstration for the dealers there. I got a chance to push the car to it's absolute limits in handling and speed. I was ver dissapointed when I read thier article about the car because the car felt great to me. Oh, and BTW Nissan told SCC that thier hp figures initially of 180 where at the wheels. Then they came back to say it was at the crank, then they reduced thier claim to 175. Loosing 40hp on a car that only has 175 claimed at the crank in the first place is a big deal, regardless of the percentage. And I also test drove the 02 Max... VERY dissapointing. If I had to choose between the Spec V and 02 Max 6spd, I would choose the Spec V. It felt just as powerful and didn't hurt to sit in for longer than 20 minutes. I think the new Maxima is a great dissapointment. It has power, but there is more to a great car than power.
