I'd like to know which you guys would choose and why. Please only respond if you've actually had an experience with one of the above clutch kits and please include price.

Re: ACT

I'm not trying to be a smart *** with my post either. I searched and turned up plenty of posts on how great ACT was. But I wanted to know what people thought of the other major aftermarket clutch kits made for the Maxima. For example I've heard bad things about Centerforce "once" but I'd like to know more. Thats also why I created this thread with a poll, so that I could have a tally of members who liked each one.

Know this..despite what other members think of Centerforce..it is an excellent clutch. I have had no issues with slipping whatsoever. The reason I bought mine was because I threw a blower on my car. I put a good 3000 miles on the clutch with boost and it NEVER slipped. Just my .02.

Funny you mention that.........

The one bad account I've ever heard of with the Centerforce clutch was from someone with a supercharged engine. And they said it didn't hold up that well and began slipping quite early.
This is the reason I post here now, initial impressions and long term impressions differ. I'd like an account of both if possible.

Thanks Sparkymax96.

Thanks Sparkymax96.

On many items all it takes is one bad experience for most people not to trust it. Most people you find here will have the ACT simply because it's not that expensive, has a good rep, and has a proven track record. That's how I chose mine That doesn't necessarily make the ACT any better, but most people don't get both so they can't really compare.

I have the Centerforce DF and it never slipped with my supercharger + 3.25" pulley...took my daily abuse and 5500rpm launches with heavy 19" rims and a supercharger w/o slipping... (good in my book)

I look at it this way:

If you want a clutch that feels like stock but holds power and is only $222.00 go for the Centerforce DF.

If you want a clutch that chatters (annoying) and grabs hard and don't mind spending an extra $100+ go for the ACT.

Don't know anyone who has the Clutchmasters but i had one in my last car and loved it, but they are $$$$!!!!

*** Either way, whatever clutch you get, BREAK IT IN PROPERLY OR IT WILL DIE!

Yep I had two Centersuck clutches before. One on my 98 I30 and 1 on my 95 max. The one on the max seemed ok at first but died after 9K miles, it started slipping after about 5K miles. The centerforce clutch(Stqager III) on my SC I30 could not handle any of the power from day one(after break in of course), it blew during my little "cough incident cough".

Then I put a ACT street clutch in my SC I30 and that thing held the power like no other. I HIGHLY recommend a ACT clutch of a centerforce clutch. You could not pay me to a centerforce clutch in another one of my cars.

will the ACT last as long as a regular clutch? my clutch will need to be replaced in the next couple of monthes but if it costs more than a regular clutch and doesn't even last as long than i don't want it. (i'm a poor student )

if you break it in right...and don't ride the clutch...the ACT should last longer than a normal stock clutch.
