That exhaust looks like a Left-sided exhaust setup car, the max is right-sided exhaust

Why would it matter what side they put the new one on?

I dunno, maybe cuz the exhaust cutout in the bumper is on the right side (among other things)

Yeah but if you were backing up with your lefty setup or just drove in reverse, when people saw your car in their rearview the exhaust would be on the correct side

The truth is seeing the tailpipe is OUT. It should be disguised under the rear valence nowadays. 2k2 Maxima got burned when they missed the trend as usual, so they got rid of the tacky pipe "dress-up." The 97 528 showed it's exhaust a little, but look at the 99+, or even a new Jetta or Passat for that matter, or even Hyundai Elantra. It's amazing how Hyundai is able to keep so current with the latest trends! Reminds me of Conoco--think big, move fast. Nissan is the fat cat with no milk left in its bowl!

Ya..

...my boys 2K2 G20's little muffler is hiding well under the rear bumper cover. I think the F&F maxs exhaust idea is kinda cool too.

I disagree. For my02 Audi made the A6 duals stick out through the bumper and gave the A4 the same treatment.

MBenz's lineup of high performance sedans (s600, s55) both have dual exhaust sticking out through the bumper.

Porsche, Corvette, Z, M3, M5 All sport dual exhaust sticking out through the bumper. Do I need to list more?

It seems as though the only cars "hiding" their exhaust are luxury cars not too concerned with their performance image (528, S430, S500) or pos cars with no performance to back up the exhaust (Jetta, Hyundai, etc)

hehe...old news... Wic from courtesy nissan had one for a while, the only one in United States before it came out hehe... i sat in his car, and man...it sounds so nice!!!! it has a low and deep tone, but it's quiet...very quiet!!! suprising it's a straight through too. i'll buy this cat back any day when it comes out...why don't we get a group deal going..i am sure people will be satisfied with this muffler...it'll make your car perform well, but look stock hehe...

I think part of it has to do with heat.

Most of the cars you mention have an origin dating back 98-99. That doesn't change the current styling trends. How many of the cars which you mention have 18" rims standard? They are in style too. Just look at the 745i or 745il. It's a new design, hence no exhaust showing. And yes, 18" standard. Even the M3 is based on a car going back to late 1998. Same with A6. Don't be surprised to see hidden exhaust when they come out with a fresh redesign. Not everyone cares about fashion. If all of us did we wouldn't be caught dead in a Nissan. Doesn't mean we have to be blind to it dough.

You can get it for 477 here. It looks really tight, wonder how it sounds. Too bad everyone has different opinions on what deep sounds like...apparently, 4inch straight pipes on a DX civic is deep to ricers
