Extended Warranty, No thanks

Well, I canceled my extended warranty that I bought from my dealership. I should be receiving a check in 6-8 weeks. My service department has been sub-par and I didn't want to be stuck with them for 100,000 miles. Has anyone else done this? If you bought a warranty and have not been getting at least par service, I highly suggest you do the same. We paid enough for our cars, we shouldn't have to stand for lousy service.

Are there any other extended warranty programs?

I think you can get them in 25k mile increments. The only way to get better service is to flat out show them that they are losing your business if they can't compete.

Is it really smart to get rid of the extended service? I went over my 60k mile service and I had gotten it extended when I bought the car at 55k miles. From what I can say the extended mile service saved me about $300 cuz I need a new rear brake pads and rotors. They were changed right before I bought the car used and then about 10k miles later they need to be replaced, I don't think so. Come to find out that there was a defect with the slider for the brake pad it caused it to run down prematurely. Nissan replaced both rear pads and rotors for free on both sides!!!!!

If your dealership is treatig you ok, I'd stick with it. For me it wasn't worth it I spent 7 hours without my max when no work was being done on it. I don't need the hassle, time is money and they were wasting my time.

It depends, if you cancel it within 60 days of getting it, you get it all back. After 60 days, it depends on the mileage, I'm getting back about 95% of what I paid and I have 6500 miles on my max.

This thread was really about standing up for yourself when it comes to service. I'm constantly reading about people ****ed at their dealerships, and being ****ed gets old. This is just to remind people that they don't have to sit there and be ****ed when they can do something about it that hopfully will deter bad service for others in the future. Amen.

Homer Simpson: "Extended warranty, how can I lose"
Moe: "Yeah, that sounds about stupid enough"

I love that episode.

There are lots of aftermarket extended warrenty programs, just do a search on google.

If you cancel your extended warrenty you will get soem prorated amount back minus some admin fee. Check the back of your warrenty it should have the details.

That's great if the dealership is right down the street, but in Houston it's not. I shouldn't have to SETTLE for another dealership anyways. No wonder Nissan service sux so bad, everybody is settling with what they're given.

I love that episode too. This season has been so much better than last season.

I have WarrantybyNet for My 95 SE. The coverage seems good, and I'm probably gonna do the starter motor under my warranty since it's covered. My deductible is $50 per incident.
