1000 special-edition GT-Rs sell out in one day in

From Autoweek..."While waiting for Nissan to develop the next-generation Skyline
GT-R—one that we hope will make its way to the States by
2005—here’s a little something to whet your appetite: Nissan
reports that 1000 special-edition GT-Rs put up for sale in Japan
sold out in one day. Prices ranged from $45,900 to $47,405.

The commemorative models come near the end of the car’s
production run because it no longer meets more stringent
Japanese emissions rules.

The standard Skyline, available with a 3.5-liter engine and
eight-speed manual transmission, lives on while Nissan ponders
Skyline’s future. "

Eight speed? Jesus, anyone have a picture of that gearbox?

Well if it has 8 gears they might be tall in the lower speeds so maybe not. Because shifting too much allows for misshifts and also takes more time to pull shifts lowering the e.t. So I would think they have taller gears down there with an 8 speed.

That would be the 8 "speed" CVT they announced a while back.
