What's the reason for getting one of these? I remember Consumer Reports testing one of these in their car battery roundup and they were unimpressed. Didn't measure up to their claims and to competitors in terms of cold cranking power. I know these are maintenance free so that is a plus... Do they last longer or something?

I liked the sealed cells and anti-vibration features myself. Particularly for racing...

The yellow top is one of the best if not the best out. Reasons, cold cranking amp, reserve life. You will not have a problem, and you can run a sound system with the car off for an hour and a half with no concern. You can leave your lights on and all will be fine. You can kill it recharge it over and over and over. And then the Red top, and so forth follow from there. Yes they are more expensive and bigger than most. But, worth it.

FYI: your decription to the yellow top...that holds true for ALL deep cycle batteries.

over all size.. the battery is actually "shorter" than the OEM one.

main feature is the spiral technology, leak proof case, and the gel instead of liquid battery acid.

red is used for "starter battery"...have the highest CCA.
the yellow is used for deep cycle appications...lower CCA but have a longer reserve time.

FYI I had one. He wanted a discription, I gave it to him. Overall It does not tie down near the same as the factory.

Ebay has these all the time. I got mine on there. Yellow Top can range from $90 - $125.

I got the Red Top the other day for $109.00 from Pepboys. I bought it because I relocated the battery to the trunk. It calmed my dad down a bit. The fact that it was a sealed battery eased his mind since it's near the gas tank. Also, its much smaller than my stock battery so it made mounting a little easier. If you plan to mount it in the engine bay, get the Orange Top. It's the same as the Red Top, only reversed posts.
