"Rimmed" by Nissan

Maybe this should go with Mattattax' thread about his wheels getting stolen ...

I'm planning to put fresh rubber on my stock '97 SE wheels cause it's cheaper, lighter, and I'm tired of the crappy road repair around my house (run water on some streets and you could have an Olympic whitewater kayak course). I've been carrying one of my old wheels as a full size spare, since I get out into the countryside a lot and don't want to limp home for hours on the rubberband spare. Anyway, the first dealer I called quoted me $425 for ONE wheel; the next was "better" at $387. I then tried Autogater, a Nissan wrecking yard (www.autogator.com) and the best they could do was $200. Man, that's high for a 16x6.5 wheel! I around $500 for my 17x8 Koseis, and they look better! With the prices Nissan charges for parts, we drive an M3-axima. Heck, part out one of these cars and we could afford a new M3 ...

I like the flamed UPS truck on autogator's website

Don't ask to get "Rimmed" by Nissan

.. they are the last place on Earth you should go to for OEM wheels

Try the f/s forum, there are OEM wheels f/s from people who want to get rid of theirs every other week (if not every week).

BTW- This thread belongs in Dealership/Shop forum

I did a search in the f/s forum - lots of aftermarket wheels, a full set or two of what I am looking for, but I only want one. Nothing there ...

I have seen several auctions for single SE wheels on ebay, with tire for no more then $150.

I am in the same boat. My 98 SE rims were stolen along with my entire car. Insurance will purchase remanufactured wheels (about $200) each plus tires. My mechanic has told me to just go purchase what ever I want in that price range. I can get 17's for that amount. Not fancy or light weight 17's but something better looking than stock.
