Can someone help me with my transmission problem?? 95 5spd!!

Ok, Im going to do my best to describe my problem. I've got a feeling whatever it is, it's going to be expensive. When I put my car in reverse, giving the car moderate gas, and let the clutch out fully, the transmission will make a sound(like metal is dragging) and get stuck in reverse. No matter how hard you try to knock it out of reverse, the gear shifter is stuck. The only way it will pop out of reverse is if you have someone push the car forward and get it rolling. Then you can start pumping the clutch and knock it out. Now, if I put the car is reverse, but dont feed it too much gas, or dont let the clutch out completely, I'm ok. You can imagine that this a pain when going in reverse up hills, b/c the clutch has to be let out and fed a lot of gas, thus becoming stuck. Anyone has any ideas. What could it be?? Come on you transmission guys.(cough cough ex. eric, haha) THANKS a BUNCH!

the only thing that I can think of is that one of your shift forks could be cracked.....I'd have it looked at RIGHT AWAY....

It could be the reverse shifter fork bent. If the upper 1/2 of the fork was bent, the thing would not go out of gear, however you describe it being stuck. It sounds like there is something screwed up in the reverse gate assembly. It is very difficult for me to describe the insides of a manual tranny without you seeing it, but its really not too complex in there. Yes it sounds like something inside the transmission is screwed up, and expect to be charged up the bung hole to fix it unfortunately.
