Projector Light Question

I have read through the threads conserning the projector headlight one piece setups.

People specifically mention that the Honda Accord ones sold were actually worse than the stock setup.

One of my friends has a 93 Accord SE and is looking into buying some one piece headlights with projectors.

What do you look for to determine a good quality light setup and avoid the bad ones?

Do you know a particular brand or site or something where to order top quality ones?

Should i look for a certain size buld like H4,9005,etc?

Or brand like hella?

I was just looking on ebay;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1812535801

Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks!

ALL of those projectors SUCK. They utilize a foglamp projector for low-beam duties. The H3 bulbs have a transverse filament just like our stock Maxima headlamps (9004 bulbs) which by design does not have a far reach.

There's no such thing as a "top quality" projector for your friend's Accord. I judge the "quality" of the product based on its functionality, not just aesthetics. I am assuming that he cares about the light output. If he wants top quality He'll have to build one himself.

Well its impossible to find different types of bulbs because they only utilize the H3. They use the inferior H3 projector unit because its small, cheap, and they know people will continue to buy them regardless of how sh!tty their light output is. Most who buy them are in it for looks more than anything else .

If you want to make a custom setup, you'll need "donor" lowbeam projectors that use either : H1, H7,9006, 9005, H9 bulbs. Remove the headlamp lens and mount the projector in the lowbeam reflector area.

If your friend buys those projectors he might as well buy some Altezzas and windshield washer nozzle lights y0! Think about it, you're using foglamps to light up the road.

APC, OBX, etc will NOT come out with a headlamp using a quality projector because the ones they are selling now is doing so well despite the CRAP foglamps they use for lowbeams. Your friend is better off sticking with his stock lamps. If looks are important then get the JDM headlamps. They're one-piece and they will perform as well as his stock lamps.

If your friend is serious about headlamp performance, have your friend source some ECE headlamp housings from Europe (Germany). The 90-93 Accords there use a H4 bulb for lowbeam/highbeam in the US's lowbeam location, and a foglamp in the US's highbeam location. It has the E-code "cut-off" beam pattern and is more uniform than the JDM or Stock US's headlamps.
