Oil Change Timing...Question

Have ~7,000 miles on current oil (Mobil-1 Synthetic/Pure-1 Filter) and usually change oil/filter every 8,000 miles.

In two weeks will be going on a 1400 mile (round trip) road trip.

Would you change the oil/filter before the trip or after to get the most out of the old oil?

Just want everyones opinion.

Thanks

I would go ahead and change it. Also, consider using the Mobile 1 M1-110 oil filter, a Nissan OEM, or a regular Purolator filter. The Pure ONE is actually somewhat restrictive because of all it tries to filter out.

You're real close to your normal drain interval anyway, so why not go ahead and put some fresh oil in there. Before I switched everything over to Amsoil, I used a Mobil 1 filter with excellent results and would recommend that one if you don't want to go the Amsoil route.

I agree with them, might as well switch it. It would be one thing if it wasnt a big road trip where it was gonna take some big miles on it. But you might as well give your engine some fresh oil to work with before pushing it for so far.

Your are right

I had just read the same thing from a link on this forum that said the Pure-1 may be restrictive and ordered my Mobil-1 filter last week. It just arrived today! So I will take your advice and give my VQ some fresh "blood" before the trip down south.

Thanks

None of the local stores stock the Mobil filter so I ordered it directly from Mobil's online web site:

http://www.exxonmobil.com/netcom/mall/

Cost $9.99 plus $4.00 for shipping. So, what you paid isn't too bad.

Anyone know where we can get them for less??????
