I found one JL Audio 12" W4 subwoofer. It is used and is selling for $50. Does anyone know the peak power of the sub. Does JL Audio still make this sub and if not when did they stop. Is this a good deal that I should take advantage of? Thanks.

 

JL stop making the W4's for about a year and a half now. Maybe even two years. The 12w4 can handle 400 watts max but rest assure it can handle more. I had a JL 15w0 that was rated at 150 max and i pushed over 500 watts max to it. It never bottomed out on me. When i had a pair of 12W3's which is rated 500 watts each, i pushed 600 watts max to each. The W4 is still a good sub, any JL sub is great. It will pound enough for you. It's clean sounding an can put out some SPL. I was running a trio of 10w4 in my max and they cranked out 140.3dB. This sub was replaced with the JL W3's.
