Konig Monsoons offset

Anyone know the offset of 17X8 Konig Monsoons? For some reason 42mm sticks in my head, but I don't know if that's correct.

Trying to figure out if I can fit Z brakes under them...don't think I can though.

I just went out and had a look at mine, can't seem to find the offset stamped on the rim anywhere There is a ton of room between the brakes and the rim, I mean A LOT. I don't think you'll have a problem.

Hmm. I've read that you need almost a 35mm offset, which I didn't think these wheels had. I may have to take one off to measure now.

My guess is that they won't fit under there. I know they won't fit under 18X7.5, but you do have extra 1/4" to play with.

So then the question becomes, where do they put that extra quarter inch...

The 1/2" doesn't all go to one side of the rim. 1/4" extend towards the face and then the other 1/4" extend towards the suspension.

Duh.

That makes sense. Did you try this with your Monsoons? Do you recall if that 1/4" would make a difference?

I never did, but Steve in Philly did. He had the 18X7.5 monsoon with 42mm offset. They didn't fit, so he used spacers.

I just found the offset numbers.

The 18X7.5 Monsoons had a 45mm offset, and the 17X8's have a 40mm offset.

You guys think Z brakes will fit?

They might fit. I would say for sure if they were 17X8.5, but since it's only 8". It will be close. Ming has 18X8 Volk GTP with 40mm. He was able to clear the wilwood kit. The spokes on the Monsoon are much thicker than the Volk GTP.

Hmm. Thanks for the input. If they didn't fit (and were really close) I could use spacers, right? Sounds like it will be very close.

Some spacers would work. If they are thin spacers than you can just use your OEM lug studs. If they are kinda of thick, I would get longer studs just to be safe.

Right, I've found that out searching. I hope that I can make it work with 5mm spacers or so...cause I don't want to have to limit my drop based on how far the tire is sticking out.

Time will tell. Thanks for all you're help Tony. It sounds like I'm going to attempt this.
