Almost a horror story, but turned out just fine....kinda long

Ok here's what happened. Last week I took my car on it's first real roadtrip- from Knoxville to St. Augustine, Florida. I was absolutely blown away by the ride quality and how easy and pleasant it is to pass time in my car...(the trip took 8.5 hrs)I mean just how great is the ride in a Lex or Benz?? It really can't be all that much better. Anyway, the day after we arrived, we decided to go run around, wash the car, and start crusin for some chickenheads. Well, all is great until I notice a huge puddle of oil right where my car was parked. I mean this sucker was big. This ruined my great mood to say the least. I was flipping out, I mean it did so well on the trip down there and then I find a huge oil leak. Well, I decided to take it to the Nissan dealership, which was convieniently less than a mile away....It turned out to be just the oil filer- THANK GOD! So all they charged me for was an oil change. I was sooooo nervous, that about ruined my vacation. I'm never going to Precision Tune again, I still haven't gotten around to b*tching them out. I'm going to make them reinburse me for that. Sorry this story is so drawn out but I'm bored- HOLLA!!!!

Yeah no kidding, putting the wrong filter on a car could be a huge problem. . . On my last car, 88 6 cyl Camry, the engine was so new no one knew that it required a different filter and one place put on the 4 cyl filter. . . We didn't realize it until the oil light came on. At least we stopped and got it towed. It would suck to have a blown engine.

Was it the wrong filter, or did they double gasket it?

My dads RX300 rides MUCH nicer...I haven't ridden in a 5th gen though, but I've heard a lot of complaints about rattles which just don't exists at all in the Lex...I love driving that truck.

I don't know really, I was too busy thanking my lucky stars. All I know is that it was leaking, and I'm hoping I didn't lose too much oil on the trip down there. I still plan to bring this to Precision Tune's attention.

Do you own change

I never trust those oil places and it is one reason I change my own oil. This way I know that I really did get synthetic, the correct filter was used and everthing is back on tight.

I would seriously recommend doing as much maintenance on you baby as you possibly can. There are just too many incompetants out there or people who could care less about your prized car. Even at the dealership, menial tasks are often relagated to the low-level tech or temporary help.

Thanks for the advice everyone; this is just further proof of the fact that you can trust no-one but yourself when it comes to your car and maintenance. HOLLA!!!!

Wow! That could have been a disaster. Glad it worked out, cuz that would have ruined my vacation if it happened to me...

I would have to say an S series benz is sooooo much nicer to drive than my Max

My father has an S500 and he was quite suprised at how nicely my car handling. He said its probably one of the top 5 cars hes driven and easily the best for the price.

I was only exaggerating, I know that a ride in one of those cars is off the hook but what I meant was that my car rides so well on the intertate that I can't imagine a better ride...seriously! I think it's my new tires, along with the perfect balance and alignment.
