Safe to drive with blown gasket?
Safe to drive with blown gasket?
Whatever it is, my car is emmiting lots of white smoke. It settles after a while, but the smoke is still present. When I turn the engine on, it seems to have trouble running. It shakes and sounds kind of like an older muscle car (rise and fall noise-wise). I'm pretty sure it's a blown gasket, but I can't get it fixed until Monday. It's not draining off my oil and there's nothing that appears to be mixing with my oil. Since this started I've probably drivin the car no more than 1 mile. Is it safe to drive it anywhere (nothing long. Just like 10-20 miles)?
How did your headgasket blow? They don't just blow overnite? Did the car overheat? It is bad to drive on a blown headgasket, lots of coolant in the combustion chamber. If you plan to fix this just buy another engine, its cheaper. Expect to pay around $1000-1800 for engine install.
