Max Vs. VW Carrado

A guy I know at work just got a 93 Corrado. We havent even talked about racing yet just talked about our cars. I didnt know that those things only weighed in at 2200lbs with a VR6 engine. They must be pretty quick. Anyone else ever raced one? He has intake and exhaust on it now. Anyone know how fast they are? THanks, Take Care

Could be trouble! From http://www.internations.net/us/cars/...o/corrado.html ...

"Autumn 1992 saw the end of the G60. Its replacement was the VR6. The narrow style V6 uses only a 15º angle between banks, which allows a common cylinder head to be used for both banks and to minimize width. This allows the V6 to be installed in place of the original 4-cylinder G60. The 2.8L VR6 version for the North American Market had 178bhp with 177lb-ft of torque. The 2.9L European version produced 190bhp and 180lb-ft of torque. The arrival of a V6 under the Corrado's hood transformed it radically. The engine is extraordinarily smooth and versatile. At almost all use levels, it responds energetically and makes its presence felt instantaneously. In addition, it is coupled with a transmission that features an excellent gear ratio and shifting that has gained in precision over the years. VW/AUDI CAR magazine tested their 190bhp version with a top speed of 146mph and the 0-60 time in 6.4 seconds, close to supercar territory. The VR6 added traction control, 205/50/15 tires, and minor body changes. Newer style dashes, guages, and switches were added to their late 1993-1995 productions."

I work with a guy with one of the older one's. 4cyl and a supercharger. He says he's fast, but he's not. I got a clear holeshot, but I spun the tires a little, He tried to catch up but never did. All I had at the time was intake.

The sixes are faster than the s/c 4 bangers. I don't know if they are really as light as 2200 lbs. either. I thought my Alfa GTV6 was 2400 lbs, but it turns out it was heavier than that.

The guy I work with drives the one with the VR6. He told me it was 2200lbs but I thought it would be a little bit heavier than that. I should be able to take him though. Thanks again for the info. Take Care

2200 lb Corrado hah. Try 2675 for the G60 and 2800-2850 for the VR6.

if stock to stock.. you will probably loose.. but if you have some mod.. you should win... like I said.. he didn't beat me much... my gf's car is loaded with everything... so stock to stock.. very evenly...so if you have some mod.. you should win... I can't wait until I get a chance to race my friend again though... with my 5 speed.. and he has since converted to 5 speed and with a bunch of goodies on it... should be a fun race..

Was that the 4-banger? Basically a Scirocco. It's hard to imagine a turbo V6 not getting some serious power.

Yeah, stock vs stock I probably would lose, but I have intake,y-pipe,cat-back,and most importantly a 75 shot of ZEX, with ZEX fuel pump and ZEX spark plugs. So I think with those mods ill take him.lol They are pretty quick though (the VR6's that is) Take Care
