Feel your pain!

I live in utah, and just a few weeks ago, we got hit hard. I live up on the side of a mountain, and some as$hole pulled out infront of me while i was going up the hill @ 35mph just to keep enough momentum to make it up the hill. ANd he ended up just stopping in front of me......bi_tch! BUt yea, i need some advice too on some snowtires. i got the SE rims...with some new low-profile tires....and its just an ice rink out there!

Thanks for the warning Empz, I'm going to call Tire Rack after the holiday and order their snow tire and wheel package cost around $500 for a set of 4 but price does not include shipping and handling. And the size are 15's the 16's cost more give them a try.

Snow sucks for driving...

Yeah I just go hit with some snow too. I go to school in Upstate NY right by the Massena/Cornwall border. I left tuesday night from school, to come home to Boston, didnt think I was going to make it! All I have is the ****ty OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-A's for tires. I couldnt really tell how bad they were because traffic was moving so slow. Has anyone had problems with these tires in snow and extreme cold (-0F)?

just had them put on last week..so I've been having some fun with them this week. I think the fine might be about $100.00 but the odds of getting caught are mega slim.. The studs arent loud nor noticeable. A cop would really have to be looking hard, and then only if you were already stopped by him at say a ride check or something. Even then..the odds are in your favour. It's not like some street patrol guy could hear you coming from a mile away or anything like that. So out here in the Belleville area, where I do a lot of rural driving PLUS the 401..it's really worth the risk for the added safety edge on ICE. The worst thing that could happen is you might have to take the studs out, but then youd still have a great snow tire. I'm using the stock 16" alloys off my Y2K GXE, and keeping the snows on them. In the spring i plan to go to a nicer 17" rim with a better summer tire, as opposed to an all season. It's weird..Ontario is the only province in Canada that doesnt allow studs..Makes you wonder eh?

Tirerack has the Blizzak listed for 146.00 bucks each! good write up. It's the only tire they have for 225/ 50 QR 17...Anyone know of comparable tires without studs? The potenzas SUCK the big one!

Blizzaks are the best snow tire w/o studs, given that you dont need studs and can afford the prices. they have an ice traction formulated compound with little pores to disperse the thin sheet of water that is always on ice.
