SE-R vs 4th gen 5spd.....
#1
I was wondering what would be your opinions on a race between a SE-R and maxima? I figure stock for stock they are about the same with the max pulling away in 4th gear? However there were se-r memebers that run low 15's stock. Even though my SE-R has just intake and timing I raced a modded 5spd maxima. We were even from 1st gear to 3rd gear with him walking me in 4th gear. We did alot of rollons at various speeds in 1st through 3rd gear. The result was a tie, but his car in 4th gear walks mine. His mods were CAI, Y pipe and exhaust. We will have to try again after I get my ECU, CAI and header .

oh really....let's see 14.9 @ 93.5 means i can't drive....right doug....
it was close all the way to third....in third i pulled a half a car to 3/4 of a car. in fourth i started walking quite easy. I was really impressed with Ari's car. i wouldn't want to race him when he gets the header and ecu.
But ari and i were no match to the del sol we raced who got a chirp from 3rd to 4th...prolly a b18 del sol.....

I highly doubt it was driver error. I mean we both were in the right gears and did a rollon. Its basically idiot proof. Even if we would have switched cars it would have been no different. Don't take this as a flame but maybe I got lucky and got one of those fast cars from the factory. Once I get my clutch and flywheel I can thrash it at the strip and look for my mid-low 15 sec ET's.

Here's the deal: With two cars with about the same power to weight ratio acceleration is going to be the same. Above a certain speed air resistance becomes the dominant factor. Assuming similar air drag the car with greater horspower will go faster, and ultimately this is independent of vehicle weight. So, it's not unreasonable for a SE-R to keep up with a Max through 3rd gear, but then the higher HP of the Max lets it walk from 4th on up.
