98 SE BOSE- Installing CD Changer to work directly with system?.....

I was told by Crutchfield that the only one that works directly with the BOSE without an FM modulatoris something called the "USA Spec cd changer". None of the local stores had it so I wound up picking up an aftermarket Pioneer 6 CD changer but now since I found out it will sound a lot worse through an FM modulator, I'm once again looking for a changer that works with the BOSE directly. The salesman at the store told me it would also work with an Alpine changer if I bought an additional adapter. Anyway, I'm looking for any feedback from someone that dealt with this in the past or anyone that knows audio. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know your options are: Nissan, USA Spec and Sherwood. Not sure if the Sherwood are still available. Do a search there is a guy (Brendon, Brandon...something) like that at a compant called Bass they are in Califorinia. The changer is around 130-140ish.

USA Spec do a Web search they are out there.

Nissan....well any dealer. Many $$$

USA SPEC

I put the USA Spec changer in my 99. Works great. Check e-bay, I think I payed around 300 bucks for it. Plugs directly into the BOSE system. Install was easy, took a little over an hour. If you want the model number, PM me and I'll dig it up for you.

Contact auser named Vinipux. He used to get cd changers that were like 175 or something. They plugged directly into the BOSE system.

Ditto. I got one from Vinipux and it plugged right into the factory radio and works perfectly!

Oh my GOd stay away from FM modulators!! Sheesh! They downgrade CD quality audio to FM stereo. Too much of a loss.

Yeah it seems that everyone who got one through him was pretty happy with it. I dont know if he still gets them though.

I have a 98 SE w/BOSE & the USA Spec from Crutchfield. It works. I did have a problem, but everything's working great now. Paid $300, but got a $60 MSN rebate just before Christmas.

PS: My fix: The horizontal / vertical things on the side weren't set correctly (don't remember if it was me or the instruction booklet). The changer would freeze if I accelerated / braked too hard (which was annoying). Switched the settings and since then, it's been great.

Cant believe this....

Just saw a Sherwood changer on EBAY yesterday, now today I decided I wanted to get it and cant find it at all( Completed, Active Auctions), not listed anywhere. Can anyone else make an attempt to find it on EBAY for me? The user seemed to be by the name "Bass Sales" as someone else mentioned, but when I look for that user, it shows he has 0 feedbacks, while the one I'm looking for had 352 and was an EBAY "power seller". Thanks in advance.
