Auto Launch with a Pro Torque converter ?
say a 97 5 speed vs a 97 auto with donvs VB mod and a higher torque converter (dont think any are out right now) the auto should beat the 5 speed yes??? if it launches say at 4-5k with good tires? the only reason for a 5 speed being faster is able to launch in the begging or is it shifting and keeping rpms higher also?

They have been available for the longest time. Call ProTorque directly and order one for $395 plus the cost of a UPS call tag.

Depends on mods and driver. WITH A GOOD LAUNCH, a moderately modded auto max with VB and high stall TC would be able to keep up if not edge out a lightly modded or stock 5 speed in the QUARTER MILE (However, past the quarter mile mark, the 5 speed will eventually pass the auto due to better gearing.) Again, this HIGHLY depends on the driver of both cars. It is very hard to get an ideal launch on an auto with higher stall TC because 1) regular street tires will break loose when you launch at a higher RPM and 2) you can't "feather the clutch" like you can on a 5 speed.

Not at 4-5K! With the ProTorque, you'll be able to launch at around 2800-3000 RPMs (stock is around 2100-2300). Anything higher than that, you'll have to get a custom TC.

stock vs stock with good drivers, a 5-speed is faster because they put more power to the wheels than autos, you can launch better with 5 speeds (higher rpm and feathering the clutch), and better gear ratios.

thnx..heres another...where is the hump with Hp where an auto will take over due to being able to shift faster as in eg. a 500 auto transam will beat a 500 hp stick transam..is there a certain amount of hp u need or depends on the cars.
