MotorTrend-2002 Altima Se Auto Test

New Motor Trend tested the altima Se with auto , they got 0-60 in 6.6 seconds and a quarter mile time of 14.99.

This proves that Sport Compact car sucks, and that max's with 6 speeds are very capable of 13's.

FAST AS HELL!!!!

Cognitive Dissonance: A state where inconsistency between cognitions (elements of knowledge) can lead to psychological discomfort, which may then motivate the individual to attempt to reduce the cognitive inconsistency.

We Maxima owners paid good money for a good car. It's painful to think that a lesser car (i.e. an Altima) might be nearly or as fast in the 0-60 (though I'd think the Max would have longer legs on the 1/4 mile).

The reality is the new Altima is a great car... basically a de-tuned VQ engine on a newer (debateably better) suspension. Nissan had to detune the Altima to be able to position the Maxima as a significant step up while they are presumably working on a greater Maxima (V8?)

I don't know about biases of car magazines, but I tend to believe Edmunds, who says the 0-60s of the 2002 Altima and Maxima are pretty darned close.

Does this mean I favor the Altima? Nah...I still like the looks of the Maxima better...but my next car will be a 6spd G35 coupe.

Altima might be just as fast as a Maxima, but the interior of the Altima is poop. That's all I have to say. Altima is a beautiful car on the outside, but the interior doesn't look right. I guess if you add some wood-trim it might look a little good, but "blah".

exactly right, i like the exterior, but my first car, a 89 galant, had a better interior, its worth the extra bucks to get a maxima.
