Q: Ok to mix Dextron II & Dextron III ATF's(?)
This is for the power-steering reservoir - NOT for an automatic tranny.
My PS reservoir's a little low (right @ the MIN lines) - thinking about topping it off, but I think the old standard (Dex II) ATF is in there.
Is there any problem mixing in the new Dextron III type, or should I drain off the old fluid first?
TIA.

Should be no problem. Most newer fluids are completely compatible with older fluids.

As I understand so far, type II & III are fundamentally the same except maybe for a modified additive package in (III), ergo, it should be no problem to mix them.
Thanks, all.
