anyone use water injection?

anyone use water injection? anyone running forced induction shoul look into it.. cheaper than an intercooler, and easier to install. VERY noticable on FI cars, and just noticeable ones on NA cars.

I think that's how it works. It's been around a long time.

water injection

its an injector that sprays atomized water into the intake- working to cool the incoming air charge, helps to reduce pinging, etc.. its not quite as good as alky injection, but as a side effect...

anyone know why nitrous provides a boost? n20 is one nitrogen and 2 oxygens, so with every molecule of n20burned, it accomplishes 2x as much.. what is water? h20, same sort of idea, although not nearly the gains. water injection has many benefits, allows you to run more advanced timing without havning to resort to avgas, gives a little boost, keeps temperatures down, even helps keep carbon out of the combustion chambers. i will see if i can dig up some links to places that sell them and have more information

Water injection. Isn't that what happens when your CAI dips down into standing water? J/K. I have seen folks use rubbing alcohol in those injection systems, too. They seem to be effective on boosted engines, but I don't think you'd see much benefit, if any, NA'd. Or you could convert your car to burn straight methanol...

and check out this new product from NX:

"For supercharged or turbo applications where nitrous is not an option, NX offers another alernative. Tne "N-tercooler". Using either nitrous or CO2, this unit can reduce air inlet temperatures dramatically."

I think I'll just get my dad's air compressor that he uses for his air tools. I can just run a hose into the intake. It's alot cheaper, and I can take it out whenever I want! Or, I could inject phosphorus into each cylinder, so when it comes into contact with the petrol, it'll explode vigorously, providing extra hp! Man, I need to get a job at NOS!

misting Q's

I've heard good and bad... if too much water in injected or it doesn't atomize, hydrolock is a definate. how reliable is it, and is water injected all the time or just WOT/boosting?

multiple kits are available

the common one is a "wot" switch on the loud pedal, there are also kits that interact with a haltech ecu controller to only provide wawa when needed- will see if i can dig up an old dyno sheet from my old mazda 626 turbo...
[minutes later]
okay... lessee here..

no dyno sheet, but some qtr. times...

stock
15.7 86 mph

after my special mods...

13.4 112

water injection

13.2 117

all the runs are averages from more than 3 runs w/ each.. car was a 1987 mazda 626 2.0i w/ engine/turbo from mazda 626gt, 4spd automatic. 14in. steel wheels, vehicle weight after stripping, 2250. maximas are quick, but not the fastest 4dr sports sedan the MAIN gain w/ the water injection was that i did not have to retard my timing as much, and did not have to worry about spark knock

car had 4-1 exhaust, through turbo, then dumped out passenger side behind the front wheel, straight shot out after the turbo. car was HELLA loud, and undriveable on the street. used an auto so i could build boost from a stop, and launch with 2-3 lbs of boost. off boost, the car was a turd, w/ low compression and all.. still wish i could get ahold of an old mazda 323 gtx.. bad *** little car, AWD and turbo 1.6... who needs an impreza...

N2O is two Nitrogen and One Oxygen. The percentage of Oxygen is greater in N2O than air.

I am using water injection... works really well. I'm putting down more peak hp and better midrange power/torque at 9 psi (water cooled) than 11 psi (w/o water).
