Need Opinions (Installing an Alarm)

Hi,

Due to the recent vandalism, and theft that a few
unfortunate members of this forum experienced, I decided
that I need a better alarm. The stock one does not cut it.
I am also installing my bodykit this wednesday, so now is
the time.

Crimestopper, or Viper?

any opinions from the members that have them?

I will spend $450+ if I have to.

thanks to all,

John

an alarm HUH?

John,

The Stock alarm system was designed solely to immobilize the vehicle, not much on intrusion, or vandalism, so an aftermarket is the way to go.

Are you doing the install yourself? The reason I ask is, unlike bygone years, the day of the "Hack" are gone. you can't just install
a couple pin switches and a motion detector and have a pro-like job.

Modern circuits aren't the crowbar operation of past systems, todays
circuit might require an install of a resistive packs or diodes rather than the open or close switch it is looking for resistive or voltage changes as it may be monitoring on an input to an onboard computer.

Self installed systems tend to be in the rookie locations theives look 1st, which is why a good install is critical, a good alarm, Viper, Python, Clifford (DEI) all can be installed depending on features $200-400

good luck

Dave

I will NOT be doing the install.
I will take it to a professional.
I just wanted pros/cons on the "Crimestopper v.s. Viper"
What should I ask for?

Hi John,

Go with the Viper by DEI. DEI is one of the biggest aftermarket alarm manufacturer in the US. I have many good experiences with the Viper car alarms. You can get an auto starter hooked up with the system. This is a good way to protect your investment in the Maxima.
