Was on the freeway late Wed nite (doin the Thanksgiving eve thing) when a white 3000GT came up in the fast lane. I got next to him in my 99 SE 5-spd (all stock engine) and held it there at about 75mph. He boned it first, and quite honestly, left me pretty easily (I think I should have been in a lower gear...I don't remember).

I kept it at about 90 or so and was able to catch up to him, since he slowed somewhat. This time I rolled first and pulled about 5 cars on him. When I was sure he was coming, I stayed in it up to about 125. He moved into the center lane to try and get around, but the Max kept increasing the distance. I held it to the floor and shifted into 5th and rode it out to 135(Don't worry, I've got 18" z-rated Dunlops-probably contributing to my poor roll-on performance). By the time I slowed for my exit, he was several hundred feet behind me.

I would imagine these cars are limited, b/c his Mitsi appeared to be quite faster than mine in acceleration. Regardless, I'm sure he was impressed that he could catch the 4-dr sedan up top!

the second pass sounds like it was a "ricer" fly by...he slowed and you gunned it and you blew by him easily because of your momentum...hence the reason he had trouble catching up...

vr4 or no?

BTW some people are gonna have fun with this..

I don't think it could have been a VR-4. Right?

Re: "ricer" fly-by

Admittedly, I had some momentem on him at first, but I backed out of it at least twice to let him close in, which he did, and therefore, he would have momentum on me on these occasions. He had at least 5 miles to catch me. Just appeared the Maxima pulled harder above 100. I don't know if it was a VR4. Maybe he was just following me for the hell of it, but he sure looked like he was trying.
