Where should I order my springs from? Also, if you have any reason why I should get another type of spring rather than H&R, please leave your thoughts. On the whole, I'd prefer ride quality over performance when lookin for my springs. Thanks guys. Oh, and how much is install usually for the springs? Thanks.

APEX spings are comparable to H&R in performance/ride quality. Purchase them locally shop but use http://www.tirerack.com for a price comparison (on the H&R). Good luck.

I had the same idea when I set out for springs: sacrifice some handling for performance. The opinions of the H&R springs on this forum seem to support this unanimously.

I put them in my 99 SE about 5 months ago and I am very pleased. With no other changes, the ride firmed up somewhat, but it wasn't harsh at all. I actually preferred it over the stock ride.

I've never ridden in another lowered Max, so I can't compare them to other brands, only to stock.

The addition of 18" wheels made a bigger difference. Over the rough stuff-manholes, patches, cracks,-the ride can get kinda harsh. The car still feels tight, it's just you can hear and feel much more. The highway (where I do 95% of my driving) is a pleasure.

If I were doing it all over again, I'd definitely choose the H&R's, but I'm not sure about the 18" wheels. They sure look nice, but I wonder how much better my ride would have been with the 17's. Plus the price difference. Anyway, that's for another discussion.

BTW, my wife's stock 99 auto rides like a cadillac now.

BTW, get them at Tire Rack. I ordered them online and had them in like 3 days. Customer service there is always the best.

How long have you had the H&R's on your stock shocks/struts? Does it still feel the same as the day you got the springs put on?

I put the H&R's in about 5 mo ago and still am riding with the stock struts. The ride seemed to soften a bit during the first few days, but no real change to report. Car has 30K, mostly highway miles now.

Cool...thanks for the responses guys. How much are they from Tirerack? I think I'm gonna put them on stock shocks too, but my shocks have 70,000 miles (highway). Hopefully, it'll still be alright.
