Widening stock rims, questions?????

Are there any companies that will widen my stock 17X7's to 17X8 inches? If it's cost affective say $50 a rim I am thinking about doing it. Am I smoking crack? I remember people with muscle cars having it done, but back then we had steel rims, is it possible on alloy rims?

I read a while back on supraforms.com that someone widened their stock rims, so I would assume you can do it with alloy rims, but I have no ideas on cost.

I actually do like them. If I could get them widened for say $50 a rim I would be super happy. It's tough for me to justify spending a grand to get new rims.

I wouldn't think it would be possible to "widen" a wheel. If it is, it would require extensive metalwork, and I think your $50 a wheel goal is the stuff of dreams. Good luck though.

He widened his stock supra wheels. He mentions on the thrid page where he got them done, some place in MI, but he doesn't mention a price.
