Moving to Canada and recall paper

Hi all,

I am relocating to Canada (for a few years) and will keep my Max. Anyone knows anything I should be aware of? I talked to a friend last night, and he told me to get a recall paper on my Max's VIN from Nissan. If you have similar experiences (or knowledge) about bring in a car from US to Canada, please share. Also, what is the NIssan contact for the recall paper?

Also, since I plan to come back to CA in ~3 years, what should I tell the DMV? Should I inform DMV that the vehicle is in storage (non-operate mood), and then re-activiate it when I come back?

Thanks!

Keep the US plates (and therefore pay the US licencing fees). Why? Free Parking!

Free street Parking that is! Here in Toronto, you'd get to ride our toll highway for free too!

Diplomatic status, anyone?

If you are still payijg for your car check with the financer to make sure you can bring it across the border.

My friend went to LA. 2 weeks after registering it in Cali he gets a call from Honda Finance Canada, "Sir, can you please pay all the car now. We cannot reposess the car if you default and we cannot transfer the finance to Honda Finance US."

If you keep a mailing address, Mom and Dad are great for this, the registration should be easy to keep. You won't have to do any drivers tests or emitions tests or the like. Though if you have to do emitions tests in your home state you may be better off reg-ing it in Canada.
