I've got a friend who has an automatic 95 Maxima GLE and he says that he's raced plenty of Maxima's both 4th and 5th Gen. and he's beaten them all with ease. Now all of these races seemed to have happened on the highway at around 60 or so. He also told me that several of his friends from back home told him that his Maxima felt alot quicker than stock. Now he's never put mods on his car, but he suspects the previous owner may have.

So my question is would a Maxima like his with lets say UDP, y-pipe and valve body upgrade pretty much smoke any stock 4th or 5th Gen. Maxima?

 

maybe his friends don't know how to race. It could be many things.

 

Yes your right it could many things. My thought is that many of the people are either not racing at all or he gets the jump on them before they know what's going on.

 

Correct. Could be a ton of different reasons for a street race outcome. If he does have the mods you stated, then it is entirely possible to win some races. Bottomline is that unless your friend races in a controlled environment, i.e. the track, it is very difficult to pin point why he is winning or losing.
