Once again Nissan has confused me

my sister is kind of looking for a car, so i'm helping her. I compared the G35 to the 02 maxima. Besides having the Infiniti name, different suspension, being RWD, having side impact airbags standard having 5hp more, and better weight distribution and maybe some other things, the g35 isn't such a great buy.

Examples) the 02 maxima SE has HID lights, steering wheel audio controls, homelink, sports suspension, 17in rims, Key-operated front window up/down, and rear spoiler all come standard. while you have to buy all this stuff on the g35.

a maxima w/ leather, sunroof, bose, side air bags, meridian, and 6spd cost Total MSRP* $30,134.00.

while a similarily equiped g35 w/ leather, premium package, sport suspension, sunroof, bose, and HID lights cost Total MSRP* $33,670.00.

if you flame me i probably won't respond b/c i suck at responding to criticism. I need to learn from Steve . I know BMW was the target, but I don't understand Nissan's stragety.

I think the differences you spelled out between Maxima and G35 are pretty clear. Similar horsepower does not make it a similar car.

The G35 has better weight distribution, RWD, and a tighter chassis. Which means it will outhandle a Maxima. If you think about it, why do poeple buy BMW's? Because they handle well. Not because they have the most interior space or most horsepower. The G35 is Nissan's crack at the sports sedan market, and the Maxima is Nissan's soon to be replaced midsize family sedan.

I forgot to mention the g35 weighs more. And yes it will out handle a maxima, but how many normal ppl will actually auto-x or do something that requires better handling compared to a stock maxima. I've only been driving for 2yr and 7months(including w/ drivers permit) and I have never been in a situation where I needed a car that requires awesome handling.

You will. You just haven't been on the right roads or driven along side the stoooooooooooopid drivers here in Austin.

God damn I *LIVE* for that 2-lane fly-over... sweeping past cars doing 45-50... back in the left lane... here comes another one... whoa! Is that me going 95?!?!

Most people tend to slow down to a crawl in turns... I friggin' FLOOR IT!!! And, no I haven't been in an accident in, let's see, about 8 yrs. (some lady in a Mazda ran a red light that time)

Austin Texas? I'm moving there next semester to start at UT. I've driven there, I-35 sucks ***. Worst hwy ever, well the part w/ no merge lanes and short exits.

People in Austin I think tend to be better drivers b/c they seem more aware compared to SAn antonio.

So are you saying that sports cars are useless? There is a reason why sports cars are the most sought after by true enthusiasts. Straight line can be fun but have to truly enjoy the experience of a race, the track is the best. Handling comes at a premium. Test drive a G35 and a Maxima side by side and you'll see the difference.
